The White House said Sunday that China is set to purchase at least $17 billion in agricultural products from the U.S. per year, a move that comes after President Trump’s recent China trip.
In a fact sheet released Sunday, the White House said that Trump, while in China, “negotiated a sweeping package of commitments that will drive high-paying American jobs and open new markets for U.S. goods.”
According to the fact sheet, those commitments include China annually buying a minimum of $17 billion in American agricultural products through 2028.
On Friday, Trump flew back to Washington from China. While in the East Asian country, he was met with notable pageanty amid tensions over the war in Iran, Taiwan’s fate and trade terms.
While on the way back from Beijing, Trump assured farmers that they would be satisfied with the deals he had reached with a key purchaser of American agricultural goods.
“The farmers are going to be very happy. They’re going to be buying millions of dollars,” Trump told reporters.
The president also told Fox News’s Sean Hannity that Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed to buy American soybeans, oil and liquefied natural gas and other energy, as well as Boeing jets.
