WASHINGTON \u2014 The\u00a0US and Iran are nearing agreement<\/a>\u00a0on a memorandum of understanding to\u00a0end their nine-and-a-half-week war\u00a0<\/a>and lay out plans for talks about the future of the Islamic Republic\u2019s nuclear program, a Pakistani source familiar with mediation efforts told The Post Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are documents,\u201d the source said, referring to multiple versions of the potential agreement. \u201cWhich one will be approved is under discussion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Separately,\u00a0Reuters quoted a Pakistani source<\/a>\u00a0as saying of a potential deal: \u201cWe will close this very soon. We are getting close.\u201d<\/p>\n

The memorandum,\u00a0first reported by Axios<\/a>,\u00a0is being negotiated by Trump special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner and would declare an end to the conflict while opening a 30-day window to hash out a final agreement to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz, ease US sanctions on Iran and regulate the Middle Eastern nation\u2019s nuclear program.<\/p>\n

US sources familiar with mediation efforts have repeatedly told The Post the parties needed to \u201cget something on paper\u201d before any deal could be seriously considered.<\/p>\n
