A suited-up Mayor Zohran Mamdani leapt into an East Harlem pool Saturday morning to officially kick off the Big Apple\u2019s summer pool season.<\/p>\n

Hizzoner joined dozens of young kids\u00a0at Thomas Jefferson Pool\u00a0for the plunge and broke the rules in the process, which requires all swimmers to wear bathing suits in the water.<\/p>\n

Mamdani even kept his black socks on as he made his half-hearted cannonball.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was so fun. I didn\u2019t think he would do it! And then he shook my hand. That felt amazing,\u201d said Mila Mader, 12.<\/p>\n

\u201cI told my brother, Leo, I was like, \u2018Oh my God, the mayor shook my hand.\u2019 He shook my brother\u2019s hands, too.\u201d<\/p>\n
